মন খারাপ
معروف: Literally "mind-bad." Often translated as "sad" but contributors have told me this translation feels insufficient.
غير واضح: Does the expression have equivalents in other South Asian languages? Does it carry clinical connotations? How does it differ from stronger expressions of distress?

In Sylheti we say মন ভালা নাই — same concept, slightly different dialect. It's used for grief, boredom, mild depression, and homesickness without distinguishing between them.
दिल उदास है (dil udaas hai — heart is sad) covers similar ground in Hindi. मन उदास है is also used. Both are more poetic than clinical.
மனசு சரியில்ல (manasu sariyilla — mind/heart is not right) is used in Tamil similarly — a non-clinical, everyday expression for emotional unease.
"Not doing well" or "not feeling myself" might be the closest in everyday English. They have the same non-clinical quality.
